IMPHAL, Aug 1: While observing its 10th Foundation day, the Animal Gym Manipur felicitated unsuccessful students of the recently declared results of HSLC examination conducted by Manipur Board, at Shanker Talkies, Lamphelpat today.
Speaking as the president of the function, veteran sportsperson of the country N Maipak Singh appreciated the initiatives taken up by the Animal Gym in encouraging unsuccessful students while also being dedicated to health and fitness.
Maipak, who was awarded Mr India in 1970, reminds the importance of a good health in building a strong and wealthy society. He said, “Only healthy will make you achieve what you dream. To achieve those dreams one has to be conscious of their health”.
“I am in perfect condition. I never complained of any sickness though my teeth falls and have some problem in the eyes. I attribute my well being to the practice I have during my younger days which continues till today”, said Maipak who is now 74.
Mentioned may be made here that Animal Gym, a forum of body builders was formed in 2005. RK Vishwajit Singh, who is also awarded CNN IBN Real Heroes, is also the founder and instructor of the said Gym.
It may also be noted that July 30 is marked as the foundation day for Animal Gym. This is made to coincide with the birth date of famous body builder and California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Chief Guest of the function and Yaiskul MLA Elangbam Chand also spoke on the mantra of good health. He said that a perfect health is a must for a perfect life. A good mind without a good health is a myth, he added.
MPCC secretary and Thangmeiband AC MLA Waikhom Jyotin appreciates the Animal Gym more than a physical fitness group.
Today’s awards which were given away to 12 selected students were donated by one Gonmei Pepelung and Wahengbam Rojit. It carries a citation and a cash award of Rs 3000 each. As a mark of fitness event, body shows and musical items were also performed during the celebration.
