IMPHAL, August 31: A drug free campaign on 4th General Panchayat Election, 2012 was held at Lamlongei Community Hall, Mantripukhri.
The function was attended by secretary State Election Commission, Manipur Th Chitra Devi, President AMADA Mayai Loisang M Padamani Leima as chief guest and president, respectively.
The function was also attended by president Lamlongei Lamtak Lup W Khelendro and Gen Secy Lamlongei Yaipha thoudan lup L Etobi Leima as guests of honour.
In her keynote address, chief guest Th Chitra Devi said that drug abuse is a big social issue in Manipur.
She added that the government alone cannot fight against this issue and added that there are several bodies fighting against the menace world-wide and AMADA is one such body.
She said that drug abuse in individual level affects physical and mental health, family income, it also increases road accidents as they cannot take right decisions and society neglects their existence, increases crime and it also disturbs the tranquility in the society.
