IMPHAL, Aug 27: An individual identified as Pokpam Rajesh was today sent to jail after the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Imphal West found him guilty of theft.
Police informed that Rajesh’s mother in law, Tombi Devi, 45 had filed a case, charging him of thieving gold ornaments and money from her house on August 25.
Pokpam Rajesh alias Abocha, 23 son of Ibohanbi Singh is from Naharup Awang Leikai, Imphal East, while his wife is from Awang Leikinthabi, Shantipur under Sekmai PS.
He was arrested by a combined team of Sekmai police and Porompat police from Naharup Bazar on August 26, the police informed.
Police also informed that he revealed during interrogation that he had buried the gold under a hen coop of his neighbour.
Following the revelation, the items were recovered.
