Deceased family call for justice

IMPHAL, September 2: After the mysterious death of Md Salatur Rehman, 23 years, son of Suleiman of Lilong Leihaokhong, the family of the deceased and local residents appealed the concerned authority to investigate and book the involved culprits accoring to law.

In a meet with the press at Manipur Press Club the family of the deceased refuted the reports which appeared in the local dailies published on 31 August.

Narrating the incident, Suleiman, the father of the deceased said that his son left home on August 29 at around 7 in the evening and he never came back. Later on 31st August, they found their son as a lifeless body somewhere in Imphal River near Makha Leikai Konjin.

Suleiman recalled the faithful day and said while his son was missing, a person named Zuma Khan of Lilong Yangbi Leikai visited them at their residence and demanded to arrange a total of Rs 50,000 in exchange of their son`s life. Further, he stated that the said Zuma Khan told his family that his son is with one “Tachou” who is said to be the ring leader of the gang.

He further said that the local MLA Nasir and police have assured to find the culprit by September 5. The deceased was later buried after the assurance from the concerned authority.
