Encounter victim remains unclaimed

IMPHAL, September 18 : A dead body was recovered following the encounter that took place between 35 Assam Rifles personnel, Sajik Post and unknown armed groups suspected to be Prepak activist earlier on September 15 at around 4:30 pm at a place between Kholmunlen and Khongtal villages, about 35 kms south east of Chakpikarong police station, Chandel district.

In a statement issued today by the Officer in charge, Chakpikarong police station, one AK-47 assualt rifle, two magazines with 35 live rounds and 13 empty cartridge were recovered along with the dead body. The dead body is now at JNIMS, Poromptat mortuary for identification and waiting for disposal.

The dead body will be disposed according to law if it remains unclaimed till 10 am of September 20, the statement said and added, the deceased is 5 foot 5 inches, medium built, fair complexion with elongated face and a love sign tattoo mark of his left hand. He wears a full camouflage combat fatigue and estimated to be about 25 years of age.
