MOREH, October 9: The quarterly Indo-Myanmar Basic Contact Field Level Officer’s meeting was held today at the conference hall, Trade Centre of border town, Moreh.
Officials of both the countries discussed issues relating to drugs and narcotics substances
The issues which were discussed during the meeting included exchange of seizure list between Indian & Myanmar, sharing of inputs/intelligence, discussion on prevailing trends of drugs smuggling and tools for effective prevention, discussion on Modus Operandi, effective follow up-action, any other points that needs discussion and fixation of next date of the meeting.
Further during the meeting, both sides exchanged the seizure lists made between July and October this year.
The Indian list consisted substances seized by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Imphal, Customs Preventive Force (CPF) Moreh and 9 Assam Rifles and included WY Tab-3434 tab, Pseudoephedrine Tablet-2042570 tab and suspected to be white crystal ephedrine 3900gm.
The Myanmar list consisted substances seized by Anti Narcotics (Special) Task Force, Tamu including Ephedrine 2.2862 kg, Opium 4.524 kg, Ephedrine Tab 203390 and Heroin 4.66gm.
The Indian delegate included Binod Kr Limbu (IO-NCB-Imphal), Maj Ruchir Sethi (9Bn AR, Moreh), Inspt GS KKhual (CPF-Moreh) and SI Akbar (Moreh P/s).
The Myanmar delegates comprised of Pol Lt Col Hla Win (SP-Myanmar Police Force, Tamu), Pol Ip Min Swe (SP-Anti Narcotics (Spl) Task Force, Tamu), U Saw Naing (Dy Director Imigration Myanmar), U Mya Win (Asst Director Customs, Myanmar), Pol Capt Aye Thein (Township Police Officer-Tamu), Sgt Tin Nyunt (O/C-Masu, Tamu) and interpreter Mau Mau let.
During the meeting it was also decided that the next meeting will be held on January 7, 2013.
Today’s meet was organized by the Narcotics control Bureau (NCB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Dept. of Internal Security, GOI.
