Offices found locked in Chandel

IMPHAL, October 9: The Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs, Manipur with a team of print media visited the office of Tribal Affairs department at Chandel district and found the office locked.

On seeing the team the caretaker of the office K Mangtilnel Kom rushed in to ask about the situation.

Speaking to media persons, the caretaker said he had no record of 100 percent attendance in the office.

On further questioning, he told the team that the department has eight staffs.

He continued that while one of the staffs is on medical leave the others are absent without any prior information, he however added that he is not the right authority to talk to media persons.

He however continued to complain that machineries and infrastructure is nill in the office.

Several times people have to go back empty handed after coming with queries on the several schemes available with the office, due to the lack of officials.

The team further inspected the DIC office of Chandel district.

During the inspection tour the media team found the office was also deserted with overgrown grasses all around.

Inside the office, the team also found bees and chickens being reared.

The president of The Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs, Manipur  R Asing said that since the past 10 years both the offices have remained deserted and further appealed the Govt to look into the matter and do the needful as soon as possible.

He further said that if the govt officials of Chandel district take their responsibility properly and attend to their duties in a then Chandel could become a beautiful place and also could be a tourist attraction of the state.
