IMPHAL, October 10: The district level women sports competition 2012 organized by District Youth Affairs and Sports Office, Imphal East under PYKKA Scheme begins today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium with the participation of three blocks.
The three blocks are Keirao Bitra block, Sawombung block and Jiribam block. There will be 12 disciplines in the competition. The 12 disciplines are Basketball, Gymnastic, Swimming, Handball, Hockey, Tennis, Athletic, Badminton, Table Tennis, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball.
Keirao Bitra block defeated Sawombung block in the volleyball match today.
The march past of the opening ceremony was received by Y Thamkishore, IAS, director, Census Operation Manipur.
The function was also attended by RK Dinesh Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East; Robert Singh Kshetrimayum, IAS, sub-divisional officer, Keirao Bitra; and Somorjit Salam, MCS, SDO Porompat.
The selected players from the competition will represent the district at the State Level Competition which will commence from October 13.
