Justice sought for Howrah death

IMPHAL, October 5: The JAC formed against the suspicious death of Amom Rajen, son of (L) Angouba of Wangoo Terakhong , Bishnupur in West Bengal near Cossipore police station on September 27, submitted a memorandum today to the State Chief Minister at around 1.30 pm today, demanding the state government to contact its West Bengal counterpart and investigate in the case. It has further demanded the governments to punish all those involved at the earliest.

The JAC also took out a protest rally from Thoubal bus parking and marched towards the Chief Minister’s Bungalow to submit the memorandum, but were however stopped by a team of the Imphal police in front of the Nupilal Complex.

A team was however allowed to submit the memorandum to the CM.

According to the JAC, the memorandum has demanded that ex-gratia be paid to the bereaved family and a suitable job be provided to the deceased’s wife. The memorandum has also demanded a judicial enquiry in the case at the earliest.

A member of the JAC had also said that the JAC will launch more intense agitations in case the government fail to take immediate action on the case.

It may be mention that Amom Rajen Singh’s dead body was found some 10 km away from Howrah railway station near Cossipore police station on September 27 after he fail to return on September  25 after leaving his 6yr old daughter at the Hawrah railway station.

He was a teacher at a school at Chhattisgarh and had been staying at a rented house for more than 10 years there.
