IMPHAL, November 6: The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) has condemned the chief secretary of the State for not allowing members of the organization to meet Irom Sharmila. It further condemned the party being termed as ‘anti-national’.

A statement by CPI (ML) State secretary, S Shyamsunder states that the Polit Bureau of the Party severely condemns the autocratic and criminal act of the chief secretary of Manipur who refused to give permission to the Party delegation led by Central Committee member comrade Sankar Das to meet Irom Sharmila on November 3.

They had gone to meet the hunger striker as she entered the 13th year of fasting for removal of AFSPA. The condemnation sent by KN Ramchandran, general secretary of CPI(ML) further states that it is clear that the Congress party led UPA government which has pushed down the country to neo-colonial slavery and has imposed military rule in the northeast and Jammu Kasmir.

It alleged that the mega scams are perpetrated and huge amounts are stashed in foreign banks and tax havens and the Congress government of the State is part and parcel of this degenerative Indian polity, they are the real anti-nationals and traitors, it said.

The CPI(ML) and other progressive democratic forces are fighting such systems and demands an unequivocal from the state government for making obnoxious accusations against the Party, it said.

It further appeals to all concerned to condemn the statement of the chief secretary.

It said that the Centre and the State government are trying to suppress the voices of protest against AFSPA and militarizing and terrorizing the areas. The CPI(ML) states that it will continue to oppose the draconian law and deployment of military forces. The Party appeals to all democratic forces to raise their voices against AFSPA and militarization of the northeast and J&K and express solidarity with Irom Sharmila. Her demand should be carried to the national and international level, it said.
