Fire damages household items

IMPHAL, November 22: Fire engulfed a house at Kongpal Kongkham leikai this late evening around 8pm.

While the structure of the kacha house was not completely destroyed; several household items including 15 sacks of rice were destroyed in the fire.

However, timely arrival of the fire tenders and locals save the house from total destruction.

The house belongs to Chingangbam Tharongou, 59 who lives with his wife and two children.

According to the house owner, his 15 year old son was studying inside in bed with a candle. Soon the mosquito nets caught fire and spread to other things and destroyed most of his household items.

Meanwhile, properties worth around 50 thousand were turn to ashes when a fire broke out at Lamphel Quarter 1, type II today at around 10:30 pm.

The Quarter belongs to one K Pumching, who works as a driver of SP Vigilance.

The fire was suspected to have started from an electric short-circuit.
