Jiribam FCS godown set ablazes

JIRIBAM, November 17: Unidentified miscreants have set ablaze the Jiribam FCS godown during the intervening night of November 16 and 17 at around 00:30am.

The godown which is 165ft by 65ft in size is located just behind the Jiribam ADC office.

Miscreants had effaced the tin sheets on the right side of the godown to set it on fire.

However, timely arrival of the fire service controlled the fire from inflicting much damage to the godown.

It took around 3 hours for the fire tenders to completely douse the fire, sources said.

Fortunately there were no rice stored at the godown at the time. Racks for storing rice bags and ceilings of the godown amounting to a total of about Rs 30/40 thousand have been damaged by the fire.

Soon after receiving news about the fire, the Jiribam Addl SP O menjor Singh arrived at the spot and helped in controlling the fire.

Meanwhile, the Jiribam Police has registered a case on the incident.
