IMPHAL, Nov 27: The Pibas’ of European Manipuri Association have organised the Ningol Chakkouba celebration on November 24 at East Ham, London to uphold the culture and tradition of Manipur.
The press release of the association said that, like every year, the feast was attended by Ningols of various ethnic groups of Manipur residing in different parts of Europe. For the people of Manipur origins in Europe, this festival has become a bonding mechanism to strengthen the affinity among the members across Europe and an occasion to pass on their culture and heritage to the next generation, it added.
According to the release, some of the members, who spoke on the event expressed their heartiest gratitude to the organising committee and Pibas of EMA and stressed the importance of celebrating Ningol Chakkouba in the context of its historical perspective and its relevance among the larger diasporas of Manipur origin across the globe.
The event was concluded by the exchanging of Khudols, greetings, blessings and reaffirmations by the participations to celebrate the occasion again with the same vigour and spirits in the next year.
