AMNTSSU suspends cease work strike

IMPHAL, December 19: The All Manipur NRHM Technical Support Staffs Union and the Association for Block Assistant Finance/ Account Manager, NRHM, Manipur have resolved to temporarily suspend their cease work strike following assurance from the state Health Minister on five of their demands.

AMNTSSU, general secretary Salam Pari Luwang while making the announcement today during a press conference said, the state Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing has provided assurance on some of their demands.

He said a team of the two bodies had met with the Health Minister at his office chamber, yesterday, during which the Minister assured to some of the demands including release of due salaries for the years 2011-12 by the end of this month.

He continued that the Minister had also said that he will try to release the salaries for the hill districts considering the Christmas festival.

The Minister had also assured implementation of a new Service Rule for the contractual staffs of NRHM and for staffs under the State Health Society, Manipur at the earliest, he said.

Further addressing the press conference, Pari Luwang said, the contractual staffs will now have maternity leaves as assured by the Minister.

The Minister had also assured to provide their contract extension for 2012-13 by December this year or by January first week, he said.

He continued that the Minister was unaware of the Programme Implementation Plan which says that 75 percent of the vacant posts for regular posts of the concern department should be reserved for the contractual staffs of the NRHM.

However after the team informed the Minister about the same, he instructed the Mission Director to look into the issue, he said.

He said the staffs will start routine work from tomorrow.
