IMPHAL, December 5: The foundation stone laying ceremony of a multi-storied market complex at Moreh, Chandel District was held today with Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam attending the function as the chief guest.
The function was organized by Manipur Industrial Development Corporation Ltd.
The function was also attended by Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency MLA D Korungthang, Saikhul Assembly Constituency MLA Yamthong Haokip and Principal Secretary, Commence and Industries and Sericulture, O Nabakishore Singh as president and guests of honour respectively.
Before attending the function, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam along with Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas and other officials inspected the Houlenphai village in Moreh, where a 2500 acres ‘satellite township’ will be set up.
Addressing the function, Gaikhangam said that the today’s function mark a new milestone towards development for the state. The multi-storied market complex will not only benefit Moreh or Manipur, but it will make benefit for the whole country.
He further continued that Manipur is the gateway of South East Asia and we have ample of time to explore the hidden treasure. He also mentioned that the bandhs and blockades hinder in the developmental works. The present conflicts between different communities in the state can be solved though dialogue, he added.
Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, speaking at the function said, if the diversion road leading to Houlenphai village, which is still under construction since the last five years, does not complete by 31st Jan 2013, the concern contractor will be black listed on Feb 1, 2013.
He further said that businessmen from outside state visits the state frequently and have also shown interest in doing business here, but our only drawback is due to the lack of infrastructure for large scale business.
He also appealed the people of the state not to imposed bandh or blockade frequently, as it will discourage the international businessmen from doing business passing the state.
Moreh will see its facelift in some 4 to 5 year, if the people of Moreh maintain peace, he said and assured that the multi-storied market complex project will complete on the scheduled time.
Integrated Check post (ICP) and Land custom station (LCS), were also inspected during the visit.
The Deputy Chief Minister was also accompanied by ADC Chairman Chandel, Lhukhosei Zou and other ADC members.
