FIR lodged against government teachers for proxy and subletting

UKHRUL, December 3: The Ukhrul District Administration, in its “Education sleuth Policy”-the first time district drive to eradicate proxy and sub-letting teachers has lodged an FIR against two government assistant teachers of Huining (Halang) High School for rendering their due teachers` post in “Proxy and sub-letting” way out arrangement.

To eradicate the proxy and sub-letting teachers which are termed as “unauthorized” in the district ,a joint-team conducted a surprise inspection to HalangVillage (Huining) High school headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Sudhan R (IAS), AC Ukhrul, DIs and AIs of the Education Department (S) along with the “Flying Squad” led by SDPO Ukhrul S Selvanagarathinam (IPS).

According to a source from the administration, FIR under Section 166 IPC is against the teachers, namely Glady Kiri Monsang and Veinelhing Baite.

The move was being taken up in the wake of the prior warning notice served on November 30, 2012 by the office of the District Magistrate, Ukhrul and the comprehensive awareness and workshop programme on Proxy teachers which was recently held in Ukhrul Town Hall during September month.

It also came to the Administration’s notice that some teachers are currently employed in the Airlines, BPOs etc. the source said.

The two teachers had hired local teachers by giving a sum of rupees 5,000/- per month through local agreement for the past 5-9 months.

And there are a good number of complaints in the district that due to the act or practices of the unauthorized subletting and proxy teachers to less qualified individuals by means of paying 3000-5000 rupees per month, the teaching quality or education quality has been compromised resulting to the rapid degradation of the school children’s careers randomly, the source disclosed. 

FIR copies would be intimated in time to Education Department for necessary action and also to the employers of these teachers (Viz) Cruise liners, Airliners, BPOs etc, the source added.
