Khadi Bhavan to come up in Paona Bazar

IMPHAL, December 3: With the aim of the development of Khadi and Village Industries in Manipur, a Grameen Udyog Bhavan will be built at Paona bazar with financial assistance from KVIC, Mumbai at the beginning of next year, said KVIB’s vice chairman, S Achouba.

The newly appointed vice-chairman was felicitated at a function organised by the Wangoi Block Congress Committee which was attended by the Pradhan, Up-Pradhan and members of Wangoi local bodies at Wangoi Bazar Community Hall. Achouba said that it seemed the people are not fully aware of the benefits of the Khadi and Village Industries and awareness programmes will be held at all assembly constituencies of the state very soon to disseminate the information.

He stated that to make the products of Khadi and Village industry more available, a new building will come up at Paona bazar early next year. The new building will also have a godown and tailoring facility.

He further stated that in 2012-2013, even though only 1480 beneficiaries were to be selected, an excess of 760 persons were selected which resulted in many beneficiaries not getting their loans till now. This mistake will be rectified in the 2013-2014 period. He expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the CM, Deputy CM and the Industries Minister for his appointment as vice-chairman. He said that since he took over as vice-chairman, the pending salaries of the employees of KVIB were released before Ningol Chakkouba and the employees were very thankful to him for that.

Regarding politics, he said that many people of Wangoi had applied for membership to the Congress party thinking since the party is in power, they will get some benefits but most of them tried to enter through the back door which is not a good sign because if they really loved the Congress party, they should approach through the Wangoi Block Congress Committee.

Regarding the development of Wangoi, he said that he will try to keep sophisticated instruments and doctors in the Community Health Centre so that the people will reap the benefits. Also, he has consulted the concerned minister regarding the still defunct Samurou water supply,Wangoi water supply and Irom Meijrao water supply.

The function which was presided by the President of the Wangoi Block Congress Committee also saw the opening of the Committee office and identity cards of the members of the Youth Congress Committee were also handed out.
