IMPHAL, Dec 4 (NNN): Mapithel Dam Multipurpose Project Displaced Villages Committee (MDMPDVC) today alleged that the case on the dam forwarded to the Government of Manipur by Urgent Appeals Programme, Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) is clearly one-sided and purely on the basis of biased opinions of the Mapithel Dam Affected Villages Organisation (MDAVO).

A statement of MDMPDVC said the MDAVO has submitted a complaint representation to the AHRC, Hong Kong to stop forceful eviction and involuntary relocation of villages affected by Mapithel Dam in Manipur saying these have violated human Rights.

Now, the complaint lodged by MDAVO is baseless, said the statement and dubbed the representation as false allegation.

On November 28, MDMPDVC submitted a letter of clarification to Md Ashrafuzzaman, Programme Officer, Urgent Appeals Programme, AHRC in response to the above alleged unfounded complaint by MDAVO, the statement further said.

The letter also requested Md Ashrafuzzaman to kindly look into the matter with the stated facts and ground realities and to recall the recommendation made on the basis of one-sided story furnished by MDAVO, it said.

In response to the complaint lodged by MDAVO, AHRC had made a recommendation to Manipur Chief Minister to stop forceful eviction and involuntary relocation of villages affected by Mapithel Dam, MDMPDVC added.
