IMPHAL, Dec 15: An informal media felicitation was held at Hotel Krishtina today, organized by the Manipur Horse Riding & Polo Association (MHRPA). The simple function was held to felicitate journalists from print and visual media in the state who had covered the 6th Manipur Polo International 2012, held at Imphal from 24th to 29th November.
Meanwhile, a press note signed by S. Buddhachnadra Singh, Honorary President, MHRPA has stated that the Manipur Polo International tournament will now be held every two years. It further mentioned that the international Polo players who had visited the state have proposed that forty Manipuri Ponies and players can be shipped to Europe to play the Panna Kangjei, the traditional Manipuri style of Polo with European Polo players, for which they would find a way to sponsor. The press note further appealed for a State Polo Policy.
