IMPHAL, Dec 15: Thadou Students Association of Imphal and Sadar Hills has condemned the recent outrageous incident of torturing of three innocent civilians namely Lalboi Mate (38) of Khudengthabi Village, Thanglal Baite (36) of Moreh and Haopu (36) of Ward No 9 on December 11, 2012 by the combined forces of the notorious Manipur Police Commandos and the army.
According to a joint press release of TSA-Imphal and SH, it warned of befitting action if the perpetrators are not awarded exemplary punishment immediately.
It is more intriguing that the government of Manipur and the top-brass of the army are condoning such a serious violation of human rights. It is a high time that those at the helm of the affairs strengthen up their forces, and infuse the spirit of discipline and respect for human values, or else face the wrath of the people, which is looming, the release added.
