Repeated Errors in Paite Language Papers

LAMKA, Dec 3: The Siamsinpawlpi: Paite Students’ Welfare Association has, time and again, detected and noticed inadvertent errors in the Paite MIL Questions for the crucial High School Leaving Certificate Examination as well as the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination held by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur respectively.

These glaring blunders in spellings and sentence construction invariably alter their intended meanings altogether and often make one question the credibility and commitment of the concerned person(s)/authorities involved in producing the said Question Papers.

Not to be outdone, the recently concluded Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2012 also has multiple errors in numerous questions in the Language Section II (Paite MIL Code 11) in both papers I and II, much to the chagrin of the candidates who have opted for the said Language subject. Due to these errors, comprehending some of the sentences becomes next to impossible even for a native speaker of Paite.

The Siamsinpawlpi believes that the errors committed in any form or content in the Paite Language Question Papers, whether the HSLC, the HSSLC or the TET examinations, have had an undesirable impact on the overall prospect of the Language in question, and the students/candidates who have opted for the same.

With deep concern for the siamsins (students) who have chosen, and will choose the Paite Language over the others in the years to come, the Siamsinpawlpi has submitted the following suggestions and propositions to both the Secretaries of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur.

1. To ensure that the Question Papers for Paite remain devoid of errors in any form or content, sufficient care and effort should be taken at the time of printing and proof-reading.

2. Any language-oriented activity concerning Paite Language/MIL shall be initiated with due acknowledgement and in close consultation with the Paite Laipau Saipawl (Paite Literature Society) and theSiamsinpawlpi.
