IMPHAL, December 15: A reception ceremony of the state sportspersons, who have recently participated in the 4th World Body Building Championship 2012 and 2nd Women’s Body Building Championship 2012 at Bangkok, Thailand, was held today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound.
The reception was jointly organized by ACOAM-Lup, PANDM, IPSA, NIPCO, UPF, AMSU, KSA and MDO under the aegis of United Committee Manipur (UCM).
Mr Universe, A Boby and Mr 3rd Place, Kh Pradipkumar, in the 4th World Body Building Championship 2012; 3rd Place, Mrs Y (O) Momota Devi and 5th Place, Miss K Rebita Devi, in the first World Women’s Body Building Championship 2012 were felicitated at the function.
UCM president Nabachandra, speaking at the function, expressed his unhappiness saying that instead of promoting sports in the state, the Centre as well as the state government discriminate sportspersons of the state.
And with this treatment, calling Manipur as the sports power house of India does not make any sense, it is like fooling the people by calling them with good names, he said.
He further appealed to all the concerned sports associations in the state not to divide themselves concerning personal issues or differences in their opinions, saying it will only lead to hampering the morale of the players.
He also lauded the sports persons of the state who have brought laurels for the state despite of all the inconveniences and problems they faced.
