BJP observes Statehood day

IMPHAL, January 21: The BJP Manipur Pradesh observed the 41st Statehood day celebrations at the state Manipur Pradesh BJP party office at Neitaipat Chuthek today noon.

Speaking at the function, BJP president Th Chaoba blamed the Congress government for the lack of development in the state. He said that the statehood celebration day function ought to have been organized on a large scale by the state government as it is the one of most important function of the state and continued, reminding that Manipur was an independent state at one time. But after the annexation to India in 1949 with the merger agreement in Shillong, Manipur became a part of India but became a state only after years of public agitations.

He further noted that during this 41 years,  6 different parties has ruled the state out of which, 5 different political parties has ruled for 9 years and 2 months while the remaining 30 years has been the rule of the congress party. 

“During the 30 year rule of the congress, the party had done nothing for the state in form of any developmental work whether it may be in road connectivity, food and shelter and even in the health and education system in the state,” he alleged.He further stated that the Manipur Pradesh BJP demands for the SIU to be re-instituted which had been abolished following the seizure of a huge consignment from the Imphal airport this month.
