IMPHAL, January 10:A press release from the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) has accused the Indian army of resorting to fake surrender dramas as a counter insurgency strategy in the state. It said that the nature of surrender programs in the state facilitated through the Assam Riffles in the state has revealed its true form and nature through the disclosures of 7 youths from Heirok area. Saying that the nature of surrender programs were an eyewash for the public, it said that such actions are a blatant violations of the rights of the people of the state. It further alleged that the para military forces in the state are having a free run of slapping false charges against civilians in collusion with former armed group cadres and are trapping the common man under false promises of fat salaries, job placements and other incentives. It also added that where promises for job placements and other incentives did not work, the forces resorted to threats for physical harm. The statement alleged that the Government would only encourage this nefarious state of affairs to discredit revolutionary movements in the state and that para military forces are on it to qualify for service promotions and awards. Cautioning the people of Manipur to be wary of the intentions of para military forces in the state, the statement further maintained that the party was aware of the nature of clandestine operations being carried out with regard to the fake surrender programs.
