Free Medical Camp bridges gap between villagers and health care

IMPHAL, February 3: A free medical camp was conducted today at Muirei Village, Ukhrul District. The medical camp was organized by Manipur Development Agency (MDA) along with Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Family welfare, Medical Directorate, Dept of Health Service, State health Society, Blindness Control Society, Ayush Manipur, TB Control Society and Malaria control Society of Manipur.

The medical camp was inaugurated by Principal Secretary Works Ram Muivah who said  Muirei like other far flung villages of Manipur have very minimal acess to medical facilities. He continued that though the state Government is working hard to reach out medical services in the rural areas but for the time being it is not feasible for the villagers to reach medical treatment . To conduct free medical camp serves as a bridge he said, adding that it  renders medical treatment, health awareness and cost nothing to the villagers.

Ram Muivah said the free medical camp today was meant for  the people of 15 villages of three districts:Ukhrul, Senapati and Imphal East. He lauded the organizers and in particular,  the o doctors who participated in the medical camp. He mentioned that the medical camp tried to bring in all the departments. He also said those who are undergoing cataract operation will get free free opticals and announced that  a primary health centre is to come up soon in the area.

A similar kind of a free medical camp will also be conducted at Kiyamgei Heibong Makhong on the coming February 17.
