IMPHAL, February 16: The Manipuri Association of Canada (MAC) held a reception function at the conference hall of Hotel Classic today to felicitate the beneficiaries of MAC sponsored schemes and also to present MAC vision, objectives and programs in Manipur.
The function was attended by LC Golmei Principal Secretary, Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) as Chief guest and Dr L Khomdom as President.
The chief guest launch the Dr Ibeyaima Innovation Award which is instituted by Manipuri Association of Canada and administered by MASTEC.The said award will be awarded every alternative year to any individual or an organization which excells in the field of science and technology from the state of Manipur.
The award value will be Rs 20000 followed by a biennial increment of Rs 2000.
During the reception function, Manipuri expatriates from Cananda, US and UK shared their views towards their home land Maipur.
Bidutparna Laurembam married to a British citizen said that Manipuris are meted step motherly treatment in `the mainland India`. She called to continue such gatherings for the cause of the development of the state.
President of MAC RK Shyamananda Singh said that it is fortunate that the organization could able to contribute Rs 33,000 for the construction of `The People’s Road` which was initiated by a young IAS officer from the remote area of Tousem.
