IMPHAL, February 6: A man who was appointed to state electricity department as a lineman under false identify is still working at the department even after the Vigilance department had recommended for termination of the person from his job on October 26, 2010.
This was claimed by the son-in-law of the person who is the bonafide employee appointed by the department for the job.
The son-in-law who identified himself as Khomdram Subon Singh speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today identified the person whom he charged of fraud and impersonation as Laishram Naba of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Haibong Leirak and the person whom he claimed genuine as Laishram Ibobi who also lives in the same locality. The two are said to be relatives.
He further alleged that some 20 years ago, Laishram Ibobi had applied for the post of lineman at the state electricity department. The appointment letter came while he was away from home to earn his living and the letter was received by his wife. As his wife was illiterate, she took the letter to Laishram Naba’s wife identified as Thambaltombi and after reading the letter she kept the letter saying it was not important, he alleged.
Later, Laishram Naba took the job in the name of Laishram Ibobi, he charged.
This came to light after Ibobi received some documents of Naba that stated that the later had taken some loan under the former`s assumed identity. Matters became more clearer once the notification for no due certificate of electricity bill before collecting salary was put into practice, he claimed.
Saying that they reported the matter to the vigilance department, he said that it came to light that Ibobi’s job was taken away from him by Naba by assuming his identity. Further, the Vigilance department had also made a recommendation to terminate Naba from the job on October 26, 2010. However, Naba is still continuing his service at the electricity department as a lineman, he added.
He also appealed the concerned officials to look into the matter.
