IMPHAL, February 20: Patsoi police team under the supervision of the officer in charge S. Basanta arrested two vehicle lifters and recovered one diesel Auto yesterday morning at around 2.45 am.
The two were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate and taken under 7 days police custody with remand upto 25 February. The two vehicle lifters who were paraded before the media person this morning are identified as Md Abdul Latif, 30 and his brother Md Abdul Jiyao Rahaman, 27 son of Abdul Ali of Sangaiyumpham Mathak Leikai. The registration of the stolen diesel auto is MN06/ 147.
Speaking to the media, the Officer in Charge of Patsoi police, S Basanta said that acting on the specific information of the presence of some vehicle lifters in and around the Ngairangbam Primary School area, a team of police went to the area for a search operation in which the two were nabbed the two along with the diesel Auto from the school complex, he said
He further said that the two were arrested after the locals of the area informed the police about the the suspicious movements of the two.
He continued saying that the two have revealed that the diesel auto was stolen in the intervening night of 15 and 16 February from Sangaiyumpham under Thoubal district and the registration number which was fixed on the vehicle at the time of recovery is a fake number and the real registration number of the diesel auto is MN04D/1542 which is registered with Md Mohamad Ali(30) son of Isak Ali of Sangaiyumpham as the real owner.
The OC further said that the two person who were accused in the child trafficking of minor children some months back from Ngairangband area under Imphal West district have been arrested by the police and lodged at Sajiwa Central Jail. The two are identified as Kh Tokyo, son of Budhi of Ngairangband Maning Leikai and Jimmy of Uripok Kabrabam Leikai. Tokyo was arrested on 5 February and sent to jail on 16 and Jimmy on 12 February and sent to jail on 17 February, he said.
