IMPHAL, Mar 18: A sit-in-protest was staged at Khamran Community hall in Imphal West district today at around 1:30 pm jointly organized by the Coalition Against Drugs And Alcohol (CADA) and Khamran Luwang Leimarol Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi Lup, as a part of CADA’s campaign against the trafficking of drugs worth crores through Imphal Airport, said a release of CADA.
Since the seizure of drugs worth crores from Imphal Tulihal Airport on January 11 last, the people of the state have been protesting continuously, the release said.
Around 300 people took part in a rally protesting against drug trafficking in the state. The protesters during the rally burnt down effigies of Chief Minister O Ibobi, Home Minister Gaikhangam and DGP Y Joykumar, the release said.
