IMPHAL, April 12: The prize distribution of the Third journalists` Sports Meet organized by the All Manipur Journalists` Union during the five days of Holi at Khuman Lampak Imphal and Manipur Press Club in thirteen different disciplines of groups and individual competition including team sports like football, cricket, volleyball, 100 meter race, 800 meter race, long jump, discus throw, shoot put, javelin throw, chess, carom, table tennis and badminton. The winner in the individual competition were awarded Rs 1,500,Rs 1300,and Rs 1000 rupee to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holder respectively and cash prizes of Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 handed to the winner and runner up of the group events.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by K Shyamsunder, Deputy Secretary Youth Affairs and Sport (YAS) with A Mobi, President All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) as the Chief Guest and President of the function.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, K Shyamsunder said that organizing such type of sports meet amongst the journalists of the state is a very good process since it give them some time to relax from the heavy schedule of their work.
He further said that in the next Journalist meet, he would assist in every possible way and try to sanction Rs 5 lakhs rupee by sending a detailed report to the concerned state Sport Department.
Speaking at the function, AMWJU President A Mobi said that organizing such sport meets gives the journalists of the state the opportunity to practice for participating in different NE journalists` sports meets.
