IMPHAL, April 1: Incidents of bomb being placed and gun shooting incidents related to unidentified insurgency groups in the midst of the Yaosang festival held for five days from 27 March to 31 March occurred at three different places.
According to police source available with IFP, a hand grenade was found placed by unidentified persons in the courtyard of Elangbam Iboyaima (58), son of E. Irabot of Thoubal Wangma Taba on the beginning day of Yaoshang , 27 March at around 5.45 p.m. Police collected the bomb following information about the bomb.
Another bomb being placed occurred on the fourth day of Yaoshang on 30th March when a Chinese hand grenade was found placed by unidentified persons in the courtyard of Ningthoujam Pishakmacha Devi (48) of Sagolband Thingom Leikai at around 5.44 a.m. The bomb experts picked up the bomb after the police was informed about the bomb. Mention may be made that N Pishakmacha Devi is running an NGO.
On the other hand, unidentified persons fired some rounds of bullets at the residence of Amina Fatum, Vice-chairperson of Sammurou Nagar Panchayat near Lairangkhong of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai. But it is said that no member of the family sustained injuries in the incident. The police stations concerned have reportedly registered a case each in connection with the three incidents.
