Book released

    IMPHAL, April 29: Manipuri Jagoigi Wahoudok Ama (Lai Haoraoba): An introduction to Manipuri dance (Lai Haraoba) written by Adhikarimayum Ranjit  was today formally released by Dr RK Nimai, Commissioner art and culture during the World Dance day observation at in Lamyanba Sanglen Palace gate. The observation was organized by the Government Dance Academy, Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur.

    Speaking at the function, the author Ranjit Ahdikarimayum said that it was his long cherished dream to produce such a book for the dance loving people of the state. He expressed his gratitude to the help that he had got from people in the field of dance, art and culture of the state who provided him lots of knowledge and photographs to be used for the book.  

    He also thanked the Director Art and Culture for providing a sum of Rs 50,000 to tide over the financial difficulties of producing the book..

    At the observation, RK Nimai said that dance is a universal language and appealed not to experiment with fusing ethnic dance forms with that from outside the state or country.       

    Dr K Sobita Devi Director Art and Culture, Government of Manipur; Sh Vedeshwar Sharma Secretary of Manipur State Kala Academi and RK Achoubisana Retired Principal Jawaharlal Nehru dance Academy Manipur and other officials attended the observation today.
