JAC`s suspends strike`

IMPHAL, April 18:  A 15 member team of the JAC formed against the killing of Md Sana met with the Chief Minister and discussed the demands of the JAC on the issue this afternoon at the Chief Minister’s official bungalow, informed Parliamentary Secretary Meghachadra.

He was speaking at a press conference at his official quarter this evening which was also attended by Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir, Parliamentary Secretary Amin Shah and MLA Shajur Rahim.

He said the demands of the JAC included a suitable government job to be given to the next of the kin of the death and inquiry into the incident by an IGP.

He continued that the government conceded to all the demands following which the JAC decided to call of the general strike and to receive the dead body.Bandh suspended

Meanwhile, a statement of the JAC has informed that a talk between JAC formed against the alleged killing of Md Sana of Phouden and the state government was held today at the office of the Chief Minister following the formal invitation of the Chief Minister through Parliamentary Secretary Md Amin Shah.

A 15 member team consisting of AMMOCOC, UMMDO, PSO, AMMSO, MMWO, AMMGSU, MSUM etc represented the JAC while Minister Abdul Nashir, Parliamentary Secretary Md Amin Shah, Parliamentary Secretary K Meghachandra and MLA Md Fajur Rahim also attended the meeting.

The government gave an assurance in writing that an investigation into the incident will be conducted by a special investigation team led by an IGP and anyone found involved in the killing will be arrested and awarded befitting punishment according to the law of the land, it said.

As per the assurance, the agitation in protest against the killing of Md Sana of Phouden has been suspended, it said.
