IMPHAL, April 19: The Kuki Inpi Moltam Lhang has condemned the gruesome murder of S. Babu of Shamurou Awang Leikai by suspected cadres of NSCN 1M cadres and the burning down of two trucks at a location between Sehjang and Charoi Pandongba along National Highway 37 under Sapermeina Police Station in Sadar Hills, Senapati District, Manipur. The statement said that the Kuki Inpi Moltam Lhang considers the gruesome murder as perpetration of a high level of inhumanity and barbarism. The Kuki Inpi Moltam Lhang urged all those responsible for the heinous crime to come forward with explanations for the gruesome murder of S. Babu. Pointing out that the Manipur State Government is equally responsible for the gruesome murder as the security convoy left the two trucks with technical problems stranded all alone, the Kuki Inpi also expressed surprise that the murder took place in a location where CRPF and other paramilitary forces were fully stationed at Thingkhongjang -near Sehjang and Tupul, Tamenglong District.
The Kuki Inpi Moltam Lhang statement also said that such incidence of murder of the driver in Kuki area is just another dubious attempt to create unnecessary tension among different communities ofManipur. The Kuki Inpi Moltam Lhang also urged the government and all concerned to declare and make the National Highway 37 a free zone.
