Relief materials provided to Noney fire victims

IMPHAL, April 23: Relief materials and a sum of Rupees 50 thousand were provided by the Transporter`s Driver Council and while an amount of Rupees 10 thousand  was handed by Priyobarta, Advisor of the All Manipur recognized private school welfare union (AMRPSWU) to the victims of the fire at Noney on April 9. A simple function was organized by the Zeliarong Student Union (ZSU) Imphal valley and AMRPSWU at the office of the Noney (Longmei) bazaar board office.

The simple function was attended  by the Dinhouchong noney bazzar board chairmen; Laishram Joy general secretary (AMRPSWU); Tomba Advisor (AMRPSWU); Shiva Dutta Editor Huiyen Lanpao Meetei Mayek edition : Landhoni President (AMRPSWU) Gaichipung convener ZSU  and the locals of the areas

Speaking at the simple function Dinhouchong Chairman of the Noney bazaar board and relief committee expressed gratitude for the aid and helping hand being given to the victims of the fire that devastated 18 houses and over 60 shops. “Such a gesture will foster love among each other without any boundaries of community, or hills and valley.” he said.

He further continued that the relief material which were being given to them is a sharing of love by the people all over the state to help the victims reestablish themselves in their normal life. He revealed that till today, altogether 10 lakhs rupees and 300 bags of rice have been received by the relief committee from different organizations and individuals of the state both from the hills and valley.

Speaking at the function Laishram Joy, General secretary (AMRPSWU) said that the relief material being provided to fire victim was facilitated with the collaboration of the ZSU Imphal branch and under the supervision of Union president Landhoni to help students of the fire victim in some ways by providing some text books and other study material.

Tomba, Advisor AMRPSWU said that all the materials which was being brought by the union as a relief material for the fire victims was made possible through the contribution of the members of the Union and some text books from the Manipur Board.

The relief materials which were handed over to the relief committee included text books from class 1 to 10, exercise books, ball pens and school bags.  

A two minute silence was also observed for driver Babu of Shamurou Awang Leikai who was killed by armed militants along the Imphal-Jiribam Road on National Highway number 2 at Charoi Phangdongba under Senapati  district on 17 April.
