Rs 10 Lakhs award for Thoubal CDOs for Pallel drug heist

IMPHAL, April 1: As a token of appreciation for their good service, a Cabinet meeting today resolved to give a cash award of Rs 10 Lakhs to the police personnel who caught a huge amount of drugs worth around Rs 25 Crores at Pallel from the possession of a PRO of Defence Wing stationed at M- Sector, Imphal named Colonel Ajay Choudhury and five other associates while ferrying them in three vehicles towards Moreh.

Informing this to media persons today, Deputy Chief Minister  Gaikhangnam said there were 24 or 25 police personnel who jointly cooperated in the seizure of the drugs at Pallel on February 24, 2013.

All personnel involved in the operation will be given a cash award of Rs 10 Lakhs for their remarkable service.

Other agendas discussed during the cabinet meeting included issues regarding the recent opened new High Court of Manipur.

A separate High Court of Manipur has started functioning and there will be more volume of cases. So the cabinet has cleared to accommodate some posts of Additional Advocate General, four Additional Public Prosecutors, and two computer operators for the office of Public Prosecutors cum Advocates, he added.

It may be recalled that the huge amount of drugs was seized by a team of the state police commandos led by Sub Inspector Dhanabir of Thoubal CDO.

The commando team had arrested six persons who were in three vehicles along with the huge consignment.
