10 days police remand for accused in attack on Mala

IMPHAL, May 6: Md Basir Ahmad, son of Rahimuddin of Hiyangthang, the accused in the firing on Mala Lisham, chairperson of the Child welfare committee Thoubal was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate today and remanded to 10 days of police remand till 15 May.

It may be mentioned that Mala Lisham was fired upon while she was driving her Maruti Alto car by the accused who is a Constable with the state Narcotic department. He was arrested yesterday by the police yesterday

The accused person was produced before the CJM Thoubal and a FIR number 85 (5) 2013 Thoubal police U/S 307 -427-35 IPC and 25(1)/ C Arms Act. The .32 pistol along with three live rounds and five empty cases which was used by the accused while committing the crime have also been seized.
