CM seeks 50 acres of land in Mandalay for hospital construction

MANDALAY(Myanmar), May 29 (MIC): The Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today drew the attention of the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region U Ye Myint for providing 50 acres of land  in Mandalay for construction of a hospital in Pubic Private Partnership model so that Manipur could share all possible help in the health sector. He informed that 12 –member team of Shija Hospital and Research Institute, Imphal led by its CMD Dr Kh. Palin rendered free corrective surgeries to 87 Cleft lip and Cleft palate patients at Monywa General Hospital two days back.

O. Ibobi Singh made introductory speech  in the Ïnvestment Opportunities’ in Mandalay Region organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce, Mandalay Region  Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MRCCI) in coordination with Consulate General of India, Mandalay at Amrapura Ballroom, Hotel Sedona here today.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh also appealed to the Chief Minister of Sagaing Region U Thar Aye to fight together against illegal drug traficking which passed through Indo- Myanmar border. The matter was placed before the exclusive meeting of the Chief Minister of Sagaing Region with the Chief Minister of Manipur along with Ministers of other States held last evening at Win Unity Resort Hotel at Monywa.

The CM stated that Manipur Commandos recently seized illegal drugs worth about Rs 24 crores which would pass through Indo-Myanmar border. He strongly requested to the Chief Minister of Sagaing to make a strict vigil on illegal drug and arms trafficking. Chief Minister of Sagaing noted the matter and said that trafficking of illegal drugs should be checked properly since it harms  human beings.

O. Ibobi also proposed for exchanges between Saigaing Region and Manipur in areas  education, culture and sports; and offered  education sports  facilities to the students of Sagaing Region.

He also urged the Myanmar authorities for import of teak from Sagaing Region to Manipur for industrial purposes. Manipur Government has earmarked 500 acres of land for tImber park. This would enhance the economic condition of the Sangaing Region from iexporting the teak to Manipur: besides providing job opportunities to the people of India, particularly of Manipur.
