IMPHAL, May 31: The All Manipur Trained Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Promoters Consortium (AMAPCON) has in a release congratulated its president Potsangbam Devakanta, who has been awarded “plant genome saviour farmer’s reward 2011-12” by Department of Agriculture and co-operation, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt of India, New Delhi on May 22.
He is the first person in the North East, India to receive this award. The reward consists of Rs one lakh, citation and memento, the release said.
AMAPCON has also expressed gratitude to Vice Chancellor, Dr SN Puri, Central Agricultural University, Imphal and Dr JM Laishram, Professor and Head Department of Plant Breeding & Genetics, College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal for their help, cooperation and encouragement to P Devakanta.
