KANGPOKPI, May 26: Following the death of one Paokholen Hangshing (14), son of Thangboi Hangshing of Motbung Sharon Veng yesterday due to dog-bite, the Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills has urged dog owners to take the initiative of having their pets vaccinated with anti rabbies.

Paokholen Hangshing, a class IX student of Mount Sinai Motbung, died due to a bite from the family’s pet dog yesterday at his Motbung Sharon veng residence. The dog was yet to be administered the anti-rabies vaccine.

The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills Inf.&Pub.Secretary, Ngamlien informed IFP that such cases had also been witnessed at Leimakhong and Imphal areas recently.

“All individuals who rear dogs within Sadar Hills should give anti rabies vaccine to their respective animal at the earliest”, Ngamlien said while cautioning all concerned to be aware of dogs without anti rabies vaccine.

The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills also appealed to the government and the concerned department to provide adequate amount of sufficient anti rabies vaccine to all the concerned departments and PHCs, CHCs, etc as a precuationary measure.

Ngamlien Haokip further lamented that, the untimely death of a class IX student Paokholen is very much unfortunate. Such unwanted tragedy is solely the responsible of the negligence of the animal owners and the concerned department who could not provide adequate vaccine.

He also appealed to all concerned to cooperate with the Inpi and take every possible steps to avoid such unfortunate incidents from happening again in the future.
