IMPHAL, May 10: Prizes were distributed today to winners and participants of the science model competition organized by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – North-East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST) Branch Laboratory, Lamphelpat as a part of its two-day DNA Clubs science program.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr BG Unni, Chief Scientist CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Assam said the society should have some information about the works of the branch laboratory.

The students have got very good potential and they know the message of DNA Clubs. They should continue the spirit in science and maintain the culture, he added.

Uttam C Laishram, Director Directorate of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur said such programs are the essence of the DNA Clubs. The students should look at things from different perspectives and also ask many questions. Pretending to know when not knowing is of no use.

During the occasion, Dr H Birkumar Singh, Principal Scientist CSIR-NEIST Branch Laboratory, Lamphelpat stressed that this program truly is very rigorous with the most important aspect being the interaction of students with experts and teachers and exchanging knowledge.

“I hope that the students and teachers are getting maximum benefits from these programs”, he said and requested all DNA Clubs schools to continue their activities though the actual funding period is over.

Prof B Manihar Sharma, Dept of Life Sciences, Manipur University also attended the occasion.
