Three day training course on emergency medic care at RIMS

IMPHAL, May 31: A RIMS press release has said that Prof S Sekharjit, Director, RIMS, today opened a 3-day training course on emergency care for the sick and trauma patients in the Lecture hall of College of Nursing as a follow-up measure of the commissioning of two ultra-modern ambulances recently.

Paramedics pick up patients from different places for operations, emergency treatment and admitting in the intensive care unit, it said and added the hospital staff handling the sick and injured persons must have working knowledge of the human body to ensure that their conditions do not get worsened while being rushed to the hospital.

The Director said that this is first of series of trainings and many more trainings will follow for the benefit of the people, informed the release.

Other resource persons spoke on different aspects of emergency care with visual presentations, it said.

One important lecture was on the vital organs of human body which are usually damaged or affected when a person falls sick or injured in an accident, said Prof N Damayanti, Head of department, Anatomy in her address.

Further according to the statement, the HOD had also said that these vital organs usually get damaged and affected in such accidents and ailments.

If the paramedics including the ambulance drivers have an intimate knowledge of the functioning of these vital organs they could easily assess the severity of the trauma of the persons and this will go a long way in saving the lives of the patients, she continued further according to the statement.

In the coming days resource persons will speak on various aspects of the emergency care, the statement said.
