UPSC rank holder felicitated

IMPHAL, May 18: Dr Telien Neilenthang Kom son of Dr TR Kom and (L) Dr Alphina Kom of Lower Kom Keirap village who cleared the recently declared UPSC conducted Civil Services Exam and came in the 193rd All India rank was felicitated at Lower Kom Keirap Baptist Church, Loktak Project today.

The function was organized by the Joint programme Committee including his family, Lower and Uppers Keirap Baptist Church and the village authority of the Lower and Upper Keirap Village.

Speaking to media persons, Dr Telien Neilenthang Kom said that he was motivated to try the civil service by an incident during his days at the Christian Hospital in Makunda, Assam.

Elaborating further on the incident, he said he had met an old man who unable to pay when one of his relatives was admitted at the hospital broke his money box and after begging from others managed to pay for the treatment.

The incident changed his mind of helping the poor and he thought to himself that he will not only help the poor through his medicines but to try the civil service and help the poor, he said before adding that he promised to himself that he will try for only twice and he failed then he will turn back to his old profession.

With God`s grace, he made it in his first attempt, he exclaimed.

The function was also attended by Ngamthang Haokip, Minister, IFCD, Printing and Stationary; Clay Khongsai, IPS, DIG range-1, Manipur; L Kailun, IPS IG(LO-1); L Mangkhogin Haokip, IPS SP, CCpur.
