Brig.S.K.Sharma inaugurates playground Haijang

KANGPOKPI, June 5: The outgoing 59th Mountain Brigade Commander, Brigadier SK.Sharma, today inaugurated and dedicated a playground constructed by 43 Assam Rifles part of 59th Mountain Brigadier under RED SHIELD DIVISION christened “Brigadier SK.Sharma Playground” at Haijang village which is situated at about 3/4 Km.away from Kangpokpi.

The inauguration and dedication of Brig.SK.Sharma Playground today at Haijang was also attended by Col.Swarn Singh, CO Lairouching, Col.Dinesh, CO 9 Dogra, Maj.Prashoon Vats, 43 Assam Rifles Kangpokpi post and other high ranking officers of the Assam Rifles and Army besides local Pastors, Reverends and village chief.

C.Manga, the chairman of Haijang Ground Development Committee said that, having a playground in this village was a distant dream which many of us dared not hope to see in our life time but today you made it happened. Who are at a loss to find a suitable word to express our gratitude of your simplicity, your openness, love and concerned for the people, the urge to help them and your commitment to us while adding that we want the work which is set rolling would meet its logical ending to matched its great name which we hold so dear.

“We rest our faith in you and the incumbant commander that you will not give up your work as true Indian Army Officer since the playground would serve the people in many ways besides promoting sports and it would be a breeding ground for the youngsters to develop talents so as to compete with the best”, noted C.Manga while showering a multitude of gratitude to the Brigadier for makings the youths of the village for the future.

Brigadier SK.Sharma recounted the day when Boishi, daughter of the chief of Haijang village urging him a playground and a dozer for construction of the same adding that I made a promised to her that day that, before I leave dozer will come and the playground would be made.

“The ground could have been finish by now but due to early arrival of monsoon the work has been delay”, pointed the Brigadier while assuring the villager of Haijang that, dozer will leave only after the work is done.

Brig.SK.Sharma also added in his speech that, Manipur produced many great sportsmen of national and international level and express his happiness to find one girl of Haijang village who contributes to the sports in the field of Taekwondo while pointing out that people of Manipur have lots of potential and great opportunities but lacks awareness.

While speaking with regards to the commitment of Assam Rifles and Army Brig.Sharma announced that by October this year around 2500 persons from Senapati and Kangpokpi Sadar Hills will move out for central government jobs.

“I pray to God to shower Peace, harmony and fullfill all the dreams of Haijang people,Kangpokpi, Senapati and Manipur”, averred Brig.Sharma adding that 59th Mt.Brigade, 5 and 43 AR, 9 Dogra are committed to help you and will continue to do further because you all are our brother and sister, we all are Indian, said the outgoing Brigadier SK.Sharma.
