CHANDEL, June, 4: Hundreds of village chiefs and secretaries of surrounding villages in Chandel district marched towards the office of the Sub Divisional Officer Chandel, Killu Shiva Kumar Naidu  who is also the MG-NREGS Programme Officer of Chandel TD Block with their demands for the immediate release of 20 days pending bills (3rd Phase) under MG- NREGS – 2012-13, transfer of 20 days (4th Phase) from Programme Officer (P.O) account to village account, implementation of 100 days of work under MG-NREGS – 2012-13 and deduction against 25% of MG- NREGS by ADC’s.

The representatives of the chiefs including Ws Angthung Anal chairman NCAC, Sng Lumdil chairman Maha Area chiefs’ association and others met the Sub Divisional Officer, Chandel, Killu Shiva Kumar Naidu at his Office.

After the meeting fail to bring any amicable solution to the demands, the representatives decided to launch an agitation against the officer thereby locking the office gate and putting up a wall paper inscribed “Go Back Killu Shiva Kumar Naidu”.

Sng Lumdil, chairman of Maha Area Chiefs’ Association, Chandel while speaking to media persons, after the meeting here in Chandel informed that the office of the SDO will remain locked until and unless the officer is transfered from Chandel.

He alleged the Sub-divisional Officer Killu Shiva Kumar Naidu of banging his table in anger and walking out of his room even as the meeting was in progress.

Enraged by the action of SDO, chairman of MACA, Sng Lumdil said, “The SDO should be transferred within ten days and befitting action should be taken against him. We will not allow him to remain in the office”.

He further stated that deduction of 25% of MN- NREGS by ADC’s should not be imposed as this is against the wishes of the people.

He went on to appeal the state govt of Manipur not to go ahead with its decision of allocating MN- NREGS under MSRDA as the latter as of now is in a poor financial condition.

He expressed fear that in such condition when MSRDA is not in a position to give its state share of 25% allocation of MN-NREGS program to the same department will lead to total failure in the implementation of the program, he asserted.
