KYU observes environment day

KANGPOKPI, June 6: As part of the World Environment Day, the Kangpokpi Youth Union planted saplings yesterday in and around Kangpokpi.

The saplings were donated by Nemcha Kipgen, MLA Kangpokpi while the iron ring guard to protect the planted saplings were sponsored by the Kangpokpi Town Committee. The plantation of saplings began at ADC Complex with Addl DC Kangpokpi DK Thangboi inaugurating the plantation program by planting a sapling assisted by the union’s president Hechon Singson.

The plantation of saplings proceeds towards IT.Road Kangpokpi PS areas with Kpi PS II OC Mimin Kipgen planting a sapling near the Police Station Gate and the plantation drive was ended at Kangpokpi bazar.

Addl DC Kanggui DK Thangboi, Nehu Yuva Kendra Kangpokpi Youth Coordinator, Salam Gourakishwor Singh, members of Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization, students of Elite Hr Sec School, Kangpokpi also took part in the sapling plantation.

The union’s president Hechon Singson while emphasizing on the necessity of saving the environment and the responsibilities of the general public said, “We have planted many trees in the past but only few knows the value”.

It is everyone’s responsibility to preserve and protect the trees planted today adding that the climate of the state has been on the rise for the past many years.

It is a crucial sign indicating the necessity of preserving the environment that everyone should keep in mind, he said.

Hechon also expressed his desire for the concerned departments and social leaders to organize awareness programs, seminars, symposiums, exhibition of books and booklets on environment issues in the area.

He further continued that the union will go forward in planting of trees ahead thereby urging every individual to give full cooperation.
