KANGPOKPI, June 5: A nine year old student of Little Star School of Kalapahar 5 Km away from Kangpokpi was knock down by a moving Inter State Passenger bus bearing Regd.No.MN05-1335 heading towards Imphal side at Tumnoupokpi at around 11:40 am today.
The driver of the bus escaped after the incident and police recovered the dead body at Kangpokpi Police Station before they brought to RIMS morgue for Postmortem in the evening.
The boy who died at the spot was returning from the school after he finished the day`s examination of the school half yearly exam, according to a source.
A case has been registered at Kangpokpi Police Station under Sec 279/304-A of IPC.
The Police identified the boy as S.Donpiba, 9, the eldest and only son among the two children of S Sarat and Ibecha of Tumnoupokpi village.
Tumnoupokpi is 4 Km.away from Kangpokpi.
Kangpokpi police seized the vehicle which killed the boy and kept in their custody.
As per the insurance paper found inside the bus, the vehicle has been insure in the name of one Siromani of Ningthoukhong under Bishnupur district, according to the police source.
In the meantime, Mother`s Union, Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency and Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization as well as Kangpokpi Youth Union consoled the victim parent and relatives at the police station where their only son’s dead body was kept before taken for postmortem at RIMS morgue in the evening.
Mother`s Union, Kangpokpi AC and KWWO besides KYU opined that making a street breaker on the NH road near bazar and school areas will prevent human casualties due to rush and negligence of the driver plying along the national highway.
