IMPHAL, June 6: It is heard that the volunteers of Joint Committee on Implementation on Inner Line Permit System in Manipur (JCILPS) is checking the buses passing along NH 39 and NH 53 and picking out non-locals and sending them back to their states. If this is true then they must stop doing this.

This was stated by Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh in a press conference at the conference hall of Congress Bhavan, BT Road here today.

He said the state government also want the implementation of Inner Line Permit in the state.

It has passed the resolution in the Assembly and send for approval to the Central government as the state alone could not decide on the issue, he said.

“If amendment needs to be done in the Constitution, then we will lead the all political parties. We will appreciate if the foreigners are stopped from entering the state, however the government will not remain silent if the Joint Committee takes up any anti nation movements and stops Indians from entering here”, he continued.

The police, army and AR will be instructed to action against such movements, Ibobi warned.

He also said it is most unfortunate if ILP meetings are conducted in schools affecting the class of the students.

“Illegal drug and arms trafficking are the biggest issues in the state. People are appealed to support the fight against these”, the CM retorted.
