IMPHAL, July 1: The All Manipur Students’ Union has today called a press conference appealing the state government to relax the upper age limit for this year’s Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive Exam by some years and to relax the last date for registration of admission forms for Class XI students.

Speaking to media persons at the AMSU headquarter this evening, Sanasam Subhashchandra Vice President of the student body has demanded the government to relax the last date for registration of application form for students of Class XI which has been announced to be July 5.

Elaborating on the issue, he has said that the student body has found that a total of 1050 students have submitted their admission forms at the TG Higher Secondary School out of which, a majority of 750 candidates have failed to get admission in the school.

He said in such a scenario, the government should not hasten admission process and try to accommodate the left out students at the earliest.

He said schools like TG Higher Secondary and CC Higher Secondary and other elite government schools continue to face this rush during admission season since the past two three years and as such, the government should take up plans so that it is not repeated the next year.

Government should improve the infrastructures and faculties in such schools, he said.

Meanwhile, spokesperson Manjit Sarangthem has appealed to the state government to relax the upper age limit for this year’s Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive Exam by some years. He said considering the candidates who have been preparing for the exam, the government should relax the upper age limit by some years.
