AR recovers banned wild life product

IMPHAL, July 31: The PRO of HQ IGAR (South) has said in a press release that troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended two individuals along with 2.050 Kgs of Pangolin shells, two Nokia Mobile phones, cash amount Rupees 94,500/- and one silver coloured Maruti Alto (Registered No MN 01W 6780) on NH 102 on July 30 2013.

The press release further said that the apprehended person were identified as Hetingh Haokip (41), wife of Hethang Haokip, resident of Sapormeina, PO- Motbung, PS- Gamnom Sapormeina and Khailet Haokip (21), son of Lunkholal Haokip, resident of Sapormeina, PO- Motbung, PS- Gamnom Sapormeina. The apprehended persons along with recovered items and vehicle were handed over to Divisional Forest Officer, Wild Life Department, Imphal.

The same press release further continued to say that Assam Rifles and 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) located at Thoubal participated in the National Environment Awareness Campaign on the theme of “Biodiversity Conservation” organised by Women Skill Development Centre, Wangkhem in the Thoubal district.

It is further said that Commandant, 15 Assam Rifles expressed his gratitude on behalf of the entire Assam Rifles fraternity for the endeavour of the children in promoting the environment awareness in the State. He also stressed upon the ecological balance which is an important aspect in keeping a check upon pollution and green house effect. The event was also attended by the president of Wangkhem Youth Council, S Modhuchandra who expressed his sincere thanks the Assam Rifles in helping to promote the cause, it said.
